Frequently Asked Dog Bowl Questions

What kind of plastic is DogPause® made from?

We appreciate you asking this important question and want you to know the DogPause dogbowl is made of the highest quality materials. Our bowl is made from an FDA approved food and dishwasher safe polyethylene. Polyethylene does not contain bisephenol-A commonly referred to as BPA and unlike PET there is no antimony leaching, because it doesn't exist in the resin. In other words, when we made the DogPause Dog Bowl we did extensive research and made sure it was safe to feed our own furry loved ones. The DogPause dogbowl is made of the highest quality plastic. It is non-toxic, food grade, and dishwasher safe. It's as safe as Tupperware® or Gladware® -- only the best for your dog!

How big is the DogPause dog bowl?

It's 8.5" x 9.3" (kind of an oval). And it's about 3" high. The water bowl is the exact same size.

Can DogPause be used with wet food?

DogPause is designed to compliment the food you are already giving your dog and improve HOW the dog eats. This high grade plastic is great because it allows you to just throw the bowl in the dishwasher since wet food is sometimes a bit messier. With that being said some raw diets that serve up an entire chicken may not fit into the bowl.

Are other sizes or colors available?

At this time, the DogPause bowl is only available in one size and as of now in two colors: red and blue. We've done extensive research to ensure it works for almost all dogs - total capacity is 2 cups across the four feeding zones (0.5 cups per zone), and almost 3 cups if you fill it to the top. If you have a small dog, just divide her food portions across the feeding zones. We've done a lot of research on bowl sizes and dogs, and we believe this size will work for any dog. If you buy the bowl and it doesn't work for your dog, we'll give you a full refund and we'd love it if you told us the breed of dog and why it didn't work. We've had a lot of customers wonder if they needed a bigger bowl and upon trying DogPause learned it was the perfect size.

Does the bowl have a non-skid bottom?

Our research indicates that letting the bowl slide around slightly on the floor is a good thing as your dog needs to re-position himself periodically, to get the next bite. Which is good - a little movement and a little more delay is great for digestion. If you have limited space, or just don't like the bowl moving around, we've found the L.L. Bean Waterhog Pet Placemat is a perfect match for our bowls.

You talk about clinical research, where can I find more info?

Check out our Press / Resources section and there is info on our clinical trial and our whitepaper on the best feeding strategies and tactics for our dog.

Why is the bottom of the bowl "wavy"?

Have you ever noticed that a regular dogbowl sometimes wobbles on the floor? That's because many floor are not perfectly level. So we make the bowl with a "wave" bottom edge that is designed in such a way that the bowl meets the floor in three spots -- sort of like a stool -- and that ensure it will never wobble. In addition, the top part of the wave gives you a spot to get your fingers under the bowl so that it's easier to pick up. Pretty slick, eh?

I love my dog, and I'm an inventor too. Where should I go if I have an invention for you guys?!
